Mt. Kouno is situated in the northeastern Nara.
Its soil is well known for its strong adhesive red clay. It is said that thanks to this soil, the tea leaves cultivated on this mountain are thicker than others.

To guarantee the best quality of the tea of Tansaisha, one uses only organic leaves that were treated with great care and were taken from the 1st harvest of the year.
